Technology glossary

IPS displays

IPS describes how liquid crystals are arranged and move in an LCD panel. It is not a cover glass or a display resolution.

LG describes IPS as addressing viewing-angle and colour-shift limitations. This does not mean every IPS panel has identical colour accuracy or response time.

IPS Black is an implementation within the same LCD family. Contrast, brightness and local dimming still depend on the particular display.
