Acer Swift Air 14

Swift Air 14 is a roughly 1.18 kg Windows laptop for everyday work and travel. Its matte 120 Hz display and two Thunderbolt ports are useful, but RAM cannot be expanded. Presentations over HDMI require a USB-C adapter rather than a direct cable connection.

From the manufacturer

Acer highlights the thin aluminium body, portable weight and everyday productivity. Acer

Strengths and limitations

  • Mark Hachman likes the matte screen’s glare diffusion and the solid-feeling body.

SFA14-I31-58V8 8 GB review unit, not a performance measurement of the 12 GB model.

PCWorld — Mark Hachman: Swift Air 14 review

  • In Mark Hachman’s PCWorld test, battery life measured about 19.5 hours in video playback and 11 hours 14 minutes in the Procyon office test; the matte screen reached 376 nits. On the test unit the keyboard often failed to wake on the first keypress after a short idle, on battery or mains; the PC reset Acer suggested fixed it. With 8 GB of memory, ten media-heavy Edge tabs plus Word pushed memory use to 97%; the review finds it suited to office and web work, not content creation or gaming.

US configuration SFA14-I31-58V8: Core 5 320, 8 GB, 512 GB. Same series as the 12 GB / 512 GB Japanese model in this entry; the memory difference may change the multitasking result. The keyboard issue was seen on one unit.
