UHS-II

An SD Association interface that adds a second row of pins to SD cards, raising bus speed to up to 312 MB/s.

The SD Association announced UHS-II at CES in January 2011. The new high-speed signals were placed on a second row of pins on the back of the card; card size and shape did not change. Bus speed reaches up to 312 MB/s. UHS-II is used only on SDHC and SDXC cards, in full-size and microSD formats.

A UHS-II card reaches its full speed with a UHS-II camera or card reader and runs slower in older devices. In practice it matters for high-bitrate video recording and for clearing the buffer to the card after long bursts. Bus speed is not the card’s sustained write speed; for video, the card’s speed class also matters.

Canon EOS R8 Mark II

The EOS R8 Mark II is a compact RF-mount mirrorless camera with a 24.2 MP full-frame sensor. Unlike its predecessor it adds camera-side image stabilization, an AF joystick and a side-door card slot. Video reaches 4K at up to 59.94p and Full HD at 179.8p. The single card slot and small LP-E17 battery can be limiting on long shoots.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (2026) GU405

A 14-inch gaming and content-creation laptop with a discrete NVIDIA graphics card. This model code comes with Windows 11 Home, 16 GB of memory, a 1 TB SSD and an RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU. The memory is soldered and cannot be expanded. In reviews, the GPU’s full power comes in Turbo or Manual mode, where fan noise was measured as high.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (2025) GU605CX

The ROG Zephyrus G16 (2025) GU605CX is the RTX 5090 Laptop GPU version of ASUS’s thin 16-inch gaming laptop: a Core Ultra 9 285H processor, a 240 Hz 2.5K OLED display, 64 GB of LPDDR5X soldered to the board and a weight of 1.95 kg. The GPU runs at up to 120 W, and Notebookcheck measured that this keeps the RTX 5090 below its performance in thicker laptops. Owners praise the display and portability; heat, fan noise under load and memory that cannot be upgraded are the most common criticisms.

Canon EOS R50 V

The EOS R50 V is Canon's compact APS-C mirrorless camera aimed at video and content creators. It has a 24.2 MP sensor, DIGIC X, 4K oversampled from 6K, 10-bit Canon Log 3 and mic and headphone jacks; there is no viewfinder or sensor stabilisation. Tests praise the image quality and AF; rolling shutter and the 4K 60p crop are weak points.

Sony ZV-E10 II

The ZV-E10 II is Sony's mirrorless APS-C camera for content creators: a 26 MP Exmor R sensor, BIONZ XR processor, 4K 60p oversampled from 5.6K, 10-bit 4:2:2, S-Log3 and S-Cinetone. It has a side-flipping touchscreen, a three-capsule microphone and the NP-FZ100 battery, but no viewfinder, in-body stabilisation or mechanical shutter. Reviews rate the video quality and autofocus very highly and find overheating in high bit-rate 4K and the lack of stabilisation limiting.

Sony α6700 (ILCE-6700)

The α6700 is Sony’s APS-C mirrorless camera released in 2023: a 26 MP Exmor R sensor, AI autofocus that recognises people, animals, birds, insects and vehicles, 5-stop sensor stabilisation and 10-bit 4:2:2 4K 120p video. It uses a single UHS-II SD slot, a side-hinged vari-angle screen and the NP-FZ100 battery. Tests praised the autofocus and stabilisation, and criticised overheating after about half an hour of 4K 60p, the lack of a joystick and the single card slot. Owners praise its light weight and focus; some use a fan to avoid overheating when streaming.

The Sony α7C II fits a 33 MP full-frame sensor into a compact mirrorless body. It offers 759-point autofocus with AI subject recognition, 7-stop in-body stabilisation, 10-bit 4:2:2 4K video, a vari-angle touchscreen and a single UHS-II SD slot, at 514 g with battery and card. Independent testing found focus and image quality excellent, and criticised video rolling shutter, the 4K 60p crop and a low-resolution viewfinder. Owners praise the balance of size and quality.
