The α6700 is Sony’s APS-C mirrorless camera released in 2023: a 26 MP Exmor R sensor, AI autofocus that recognises people, animals, birds, insects and vehicles, 5-stop sensor stabilisation and 10-bit 4:2:2 4K 120p video. It uses a single UHS-II SD slot, a side-hinged vari-angle screen and the NP-FZ100 battery. Tests praised the autofocus and stabilisation, and criticised overheating after about half an hour of 4K 60p, the lack of a joystick and the single card slot. Owners praise its light weight and focus; some use a fan to avoid overheating when streaming.

Sony presents the α6700 as an APS-C camera offering high image quality in a compact body, with AI-processor real-time recognition autofocus and advanced video features. Sony India
In Camera Labs’ test, the autofocus was rated the best system on Sony’s APS-C bodies, with bird and animal recognition among the best in its class; busy backgrounds occasionally caused trouble. In-body stabilisation gave sharp shots at 1/10 s instead of 1/160 s at 55 mm (about 4 stops). At 4K 30p and below, recording ran for more than two hours without overheating; at 4K 50/60p it stopped with an overheating warning after about 25–35 minutes. The FZ100 battery beat its rated shot count and lasted a little over two hours of 10-bit 4K 25p. Negatives: no joystick, a significant crop at 4K 120p, a single SD slot, a low-resolution rear screen and strap lugs that rattle into the built-in microphone.
Camera Labs: Sony A6700 reviewBest Buy’s page for the α6700 with the 18–135 mm kit has 141 reviews; 19 of the 20 visible reviews are 5 stars. Owners praise how well it handles both photo and video, the light, travel-friendly body and focusing speed; many are newcomers to photography. One buyer says the camera gets hot when streaming video over USB-C but did not shut down during a one-hour meeting; another misses an internal fan but has not had overheating yet. A 4-star reviewer complains about the lack of a printed manual and external charger and the difficulty of transferring photos with the phone app; three reviews mention a learning curve for beginners.
Best Buy: Sony Alpha 6700 APS-C mirrorless camera with E 18-135mm lens customer reviewsOn Alza in Czechia, the α6700 body averages 4.5 from 29 ratings; in 10 visible reviews owners praise the focusing and tracking, battery life, 4K 120 fps and speed compared with the A6400/A6500. Two users say they had to use an external fan because of overheating when streaming to a computer at top quality or recording long 4K clips; for one, a firmware update helped. One user could not control their gimbal over USB-C, and one company reports a faulty body that showed a dead-battery warning despite a charged battery; another finds it bigger and heavier than the A6400.
