Sony ZV-E10 II

The ZV-E10 II is Sony's mirrorless APS-C camera for content creators: a 26 MP Exmor R sensor, BIONZ XR processor, 4K 60p oversampled from 5.6K, 10-bit 4:2:2, S-Log3 and S-Cinetone. It has a side-flipping touchscreen, a three-capsule microphone and the NP-FZ100 battery, but no viewfinder, in-body stabilisation or mechanical shutter. Reviews rate the video quality and autofocus very highly and find overheating in high bit-rate 4K and the lack of stabilisation limiting.

Specifications

SpecificationValue
SensorAPS-C (23.3 × 15.5 mm) Exmor R CMOS; about 26.0 MP effective (stills)

Effective resolution for movies is about 19.9 MP; the APS-C sensor brings roughly a 1.5× crop factor versus full frame.

ProcessorBIONZ XR
ISOStills ISO 100–32000 (expanded 50–102400); movies ISO 100–32000
AutofocusFast Hybrid AF; 759 phase-detection points for stills, 495 for movies; human, animal and bird recognition

Phase detection quickly works out which way to shift focus; eye and subject tracking can be used for video.

4K video4K up to 59.94p; XAVC HS/S 4:2:2 10-bit 200 Mbps, XAVC S-I 4:2:2 10-bit 600 Mbps

Sony says 4K is oversampled from 5.6K. 10-bit 4:2:2 reduces banding when grading; high bit rates such as S-I may need a fast (V90-class) card.

Full HD videoUp to 119.88p (4:2:0 8-bit)
Colour profilesS-Log3, S-Cinetone (Cinematic Vlog Setting), user LUT import

S-Log3 records wide dynamic range as a flat image that needs grading; S-Cinetone gives a cinematic look without grading.

StabilisationLens-based optical stabilisation; electronic Active mode for movies

There is no in-body stabilisation. Active mode reduces shake by cropping the image.

Shutter and burstElectronic shutter only; 1/8000–30 s; up to 11 fps

With no mechanical shutter, flash sync is limited to 1/30 s and fast-moving subjects can distort.

Screen and viewfinder3.0-inch touch LCD, about 1.04 million dots; side-opening and rotating; no viewfinder
AudioBuilt-in three-capsule stereo microphone; 3.5 mm mic and headphone jacks; Multi Interface Shoe with digital audio interface

With the Multi Interface Shoe, compatible Sony microphones send audio digitally to the camera without a cable.

USB Power Delivery charging and powering over USB while recording are supported.

Strengths and limitations

  • According to DPReview, 4K 60p is oversampled from 5.6K with a 1.1× crop, while modes up to 30p are oversampled from 6K. Readout measured 16 ms at 4K/60p, 17 ms at 4K/24p and 7 ms at 1080p/24, greatly reducing the jello effect of the first ZV-E10. At default settings the manual warns of about 5 minutes of 4K at 25 °C; with Auto Power OFF Temp set to High, indoors at 23 °C, 4K/60p 200 Mbps 4:2:2 ran for 1 hour 17 minutes and 45 Mbps for 1 hour 53 minutes. Electronic stabilisation adds a further 1.33× crop, narrowing the kit lens to 32 mm equivalent at its widest. Autofocus was rated best-in-class for desk vlogging; ergonomics are weak without a grip and the screen is hard to read in sunlight.

DPReview review, 2 October 2024; indoor heat test at 23 °C. Times shorten outdoors or at default settings.

  • In Videomaker's test, 4K 60fps 10-bit 4:2:2 200 Mbps recording stopped from overheating every 20–25 minutes; the same mode at 50 Mbps did not overheat. At 4K 24p 10-bit 50 Mbps the battery lasted 2 hours 14 minutes. Noticeable rolling shutter, weak electronic stabilisation and a single card slot count as negatives; strong autofocus, about 13 stops of dynamic range and the directional microphone as positives.

Owner experiences and issues

  • The 23 unique reviews on Sony India's page average 4.2. Owners in India and the UK praise 4K 60p, 10-bit and S-Log3; Subhojit and another user find the battery life good. Salik (April 2026) reports overheating with temperature warnings and performance drops, and an unnamed user notes clear heat build-up. anniegill finds the menus complicated, Tobees finds the text hard to read without glasses, and Ayush209 wants a viewfinder. Aksah (February 2025) says that after three months the screen stayed black, menu choices jumped back to the home screen and the camera stayed on for 3–4 minutes after being switched off.

Sony India review page (India and UK reviews pooled); body and kit mixed, most reviewers verified buyers. Two duplicated reviews were counted once. Aksah’s fault is a single report; no failure rate can be drawn.
