GIGABYTE AORUS MASTER 16 AM6H (BYHC5USE64SH)

The AORUS MASTER 16 AM6H is GIGABYTE’s 16-inch OLED gaming laptop. This configuration has a Core Ultra 9 275HX, an RTX 5080 Laptop GPU running at up to 175 W, a 2560 × 1600 240 Hz OLED screen, Thunderbolt 5, two SO-DIMM and two M.2 slots. Testing found gaming performance on par with rivals and good battery life in games; the stock SSD was slow and the screen measured dim. Owners like the OLED and upgradeability, but differ on fan noise and build quality.

BYHC5USE64SH (US): Core Ultra 9 275HX, RTX 5080 Laptop GPU 16 GB, 32 GB DDR5, 1 TB SSD, Windows 11 Home, Dark Tide. The BZH (RTX 5090) and BXH (RTX 5070 Ti, 140 W) in the same chassis and the AMD-based AORUS MASTER 16 are separate configurations.

Specifications

SpecificationValue
GraphicsNVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU, 16 GB GDDR7; up to 175 W graphics power including Dynamic Boost; up to 1,902 MHz AI Boost clock (1,702 + 200 MHz OC)

175 W includes the share Dynamic Boost shifts to the GPU when CPU load is low; GIGABYTE notes the figure may vary by scenario. The desktop RTX 5080 is a different card.

Hybrid graphicsNVIDIA Advanced Optimus and G-SYNC

Advanced Optimus switches the display between integrated graphics and the RTX GPU without a reboot: a direct GPU path in games, battery savings in light work.

ProcessorIntel Core Ultra 9 275HX; 24 cores / 24 threads, 36 MB cache, up to 5.4 GHz
Display16-inch 16:10 OLED, 2560 × 1600 (WQXGA), 240 Hz, 1 ms; 100% DCI-P3; 500 nits peak; 1,000,000:1 contrast; glossy surface

240 Hz shows motion more clearly in fast games and puts the RTX 5080’s high frame rates on screen; 500 nits is an HDR peak, not sustained full-screen brightness.

Display certificationsVESA DisplayHDR True Black 500, VESA ClearMR 10000, Dolby Vision, Pantone Validated, TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light

True Black 500 certifies HDR peak brightness of 500 nits together with OLED’s deep blacks; ClearMR 10000 is a motion-clarity tier.

MemoryDDR5-5600; two SO-DIMM slots, up to 64 GB

Memory is not soldered. The BYHC5USE64SH ships with 2 × 16 GB, so both slots are filled and upgrading means swapping modules.

StoragePCIe NVMe M.2; one PCIe Gen5 and one PCIe Gen4 x4 M.2 slot, up to 4 TB

A second SSD can be added. The Gen5 slot gives higher sequential speeds with a compatible Gen5 SSD; which slot the factory SSD uses can vary by configuration.

Left portsDC-in; RJ-45 1 Gbit LAN; HDMI 2.1; USB-A (USB 3.2 Gen 2); USB-C Thunderbolt 5 (USB4, DisplayPort 2.1, Power Delivery 3.0)

The Thunderbolt 5 port suits high-bandwidth external SSDs, docks and DisplayPort 2.1 monitors; HDMI 2.1 supports high-refresh TVs and monitors.

Right portsUSB-A (USB 3.2 Gen 2); USB-C Thunderbolt 4 (USB4, DisplayPort 1.4, Power Delivery 3.0); microSD card reader (UHS-II); 3.5 mm headphone/mic combo

The two USB-C ports differ in speed and display version; for a high-resolution external display the left Thunderbolt 5 port is the better choice.

WirelessWi-Fi 7 (802.11be, 2×2); Bluetooth 5.4
Audio and cameraFour 2 W speakers, Dolby Atmos, Smart Amp; 1080p IR camera, Windows Hello face login, array microphone
Keyboard3-zone RGB backlight, up to 1.7 mm key travel, N-key rollover

N-key rollover means every simultaneously pressed key is registered, avoiding missed inputs in games. Lighting is set in three zones, not per key.

Battery and adapter99 Wh lithium-ion; 330 W AC adapter

99 Wh is close to the upper limit for laptop batteries allowed on planes. Full GPU power needs the 330 W adapter; USB-C charging via Power Delivery 3.0 is possible but performance is reduced.

Size and weight357 × 254 × 23–29.9 mm; about 2.5 kg
Operating system and securityWindows 11 Home or Windows 11 Pro (by region); firmware TPM (Intel PTT)
ColourDark Tide

Strengths and limitations

  • On Laptop Mag’s 32 GB / 1 TB unit the web-browsing battery test lasted 5 hours 2 minutes and the PCMark 10 gaming battery test 2 hours 54 minutes, which the review found very good for its class. The screen averaged 377.6 nits, the dimmest of the compared laptops, with 81% DCI-P3 coverage. Average surface temperature was 34.6 °C, but a spot near the hinge reached 47.1 °C in games. Gaming results were similar to the Razer Blade 16 and MSI Titan 18. The biggest weakness was the SSD: a 25 GB file copy ran at about 665 MB/s, far behind rivals. The keyboard and touchpad were liked; the 3-zone RGB, weak bass in music and overexposed 1080p webcam were criticised.

Owner experiences and issues

  • Best Buy shows three reviews for this SKU (one five-star, one four-star, one one-star). Akshayprasad (verified, incentivised, one month) finds the OLED very bright in HDR; under maximum gaming load the CPU reached 90–95 °C and the GPU 70–78 °C with the RTX 5080 drawing 175–180 W, fans were loud in Turbo mode and the lid scratches easily; they added a second SSD in the empty Gen5 slot. Sentential (verified, incentivised) reports constant OS corruption and boot loops on reset, chassis flex, a lid that does not sit flat on the deck and loose hinges; no cause was diagnosed. The third review says the SSD is not fast and the screen shows fingerprints. Two reviews criticise the limited tuning in the GMATE software.

Best Buy US, BYHC5USE64SH (6623750), all 3 visible reviews; a single-owner fault report is not generalised.
