The α7R V is Sony’s 61MP full-frame high-resolution mirrorless camera. It offers subject-recognition AF from a dedicated AI processing unit alongside BIONZ XR, 8-stop in-body stabilisation, a four-way articulating screen, a 9.44-million-dot EVF, 8K 24p video and dual CFexpress Type A/SD slots. Long-term use praises the AF, screen and dynamic range; rolling shutter, menu layout and large files are limitations. Owners are very happy with image quality and criticise the weight and file size.

Fstoppers’ review, based on Jason Row’s video after about a year of use, says face and eye tracking stays locked on, the four-way screen is very useful for low angles and vertical shots, and the EVF is bright and sharp with generous dynamic range. Files stay clean to ISO 6400, beyond which noise reduction is needed. Rolling shutter shows with fast pans and tracking. It is not always clear which stabilisation layer (lens OSS, body IBIS, Active) is on, and Active mode crops. Settings spread across menu pages and the 30-second shutter limit are criticised; 8K and 4K fill cards quickly.

All 20 first-page reviews are verified and incentivised. ZASAD (six months) praises landscape detail and stabilisation, ChaznP (1.5 years) dynamic range and 8K, and Silversurfer autofocus tracking running dogs over about 5,000 shots. Cjay and WildGingerPhotography find the body heavier than the A7 IV and tiring on the wrist, Bill and Anonymouse note very large files, and LoganW gets 2–3 hours of on-time per battery. Rick (three months) criticises automatic focus-area selection, shutter-mode switching, CFexpress Type A card cost and a semi-intuitive menu; Alfred says the menu takes learning for first-time mirrorless buyers. djt12793 praises firmware 4.00.
