Technology glossary

KVM

A switching feature for sharing one keyboard and mouse between computers.

The monitor routes USB peripherals to the selected computer’s upstream connection. A video cable does not necessarily carry USB data.

The MSI X50 selects a USB-B upstream or USB-C path. KVM does not let two computers control the same USB device simultaneously.

The ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM is ASUS’s 26.5-inch 4K (3840 × 2160) 240 Hz QD-OLED gaming monitor: 0.03 ms response time, DisplayHDR 400 True Black, Dolby Vision, DisplayPort 2.1, two HDMI 2.1 ports and USB-C with 90 W power delivery. The high pixel density makes small text sharp; against burn-in there is ASUS OLED Care and a 3-year warranty that also covers burn-in. In one firmware version DSC could not be turned off; this was fixed in the next version.
