MSI MPG 341CQPX QD-OLED

The MPG 341CQPX is MSI’s 34-inch 3440 × 1440 240 Hz QD-OLED ultrawide gaming monitor. It offers an 1800R curve, DisplayHDR True Black 400, two HDMI 2.1 ports, USB-C with 98 W charging, a built-in KVM and PiP/PbP, with a three-year warranty that covers burn-in. Testing found HDR peaks near 950 nits on small areas; the triangular subpixel layout gives slight colour fringing on text and the glossy surface reflects. Owners praise the picture and KVM; a few complain of VRR flicker and text clarity.

Specifications

SpecificationValue
Panel34.18-inch curved QD-OLED, 1800R; 3440 × 1440 (UWQHD), 21:9; 0.2315 mm pixel pitch

1800R is the curve of a circle with a 1.8 m radius; it brings the edges of the wide screen closer to your eyes. The 21:9 ratio gives a wider field of view in supported games and room for two windows side by side.

Refresh and response240 Hz (48–240 Hz variable range); 0.03 ms GtG

240 Hz is reached at full resolution over DisplayPort 1.4a or HDMI 2.1. 0.03 ms is pixel transition time, not total input lag. Below 48 fps the frame rate falls outside the variable refresh range.

Brightness and HDR250 nits typical SDR; 1,000 nits peak HDR at 3% APL, 450 nits at 10% APL; VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400; 1,500,000:1 contrast

1,000 nits is reached only on bright areas covering about 3% of the screen (explosions, sun glints); as the bright area grows, OLED automatic brightness limiting kicks in.

Colour10-bit (1.07 billion colours); DCI-P3 99.3%, Adobe RGB 97.8%, sRGB 139.1% (CIE 1976)

sRGB above 100% means sRGB content can look oversaturated unless shown in a clamped mode.

Variable refreshG-SYNC Compatible, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro

Matching refresh to the graphics card’s frame rate reduces tearing and stutter; FreeSync Premium Pro also covers low-latency HDR operation.

Video inputs1 × DisplayPort 1.4a (3440 × 1440 240 Hz); 2 × HDMI 2.1 (UWQHD 240 Hz); 1 × USB-C (DisplayPort Alt Mode, 98 W Power Delivery)

USB-C takes video from a laptop over one cable and charges it at up to 98 W; the PD charging option must be enabled in the OSD. The USB-C data path runs at USB 2.0 speed.

USB and audio2 × USB 2.0 Type-A, 1 × USB 2.0 Type-B (upstream); headphone out; no built-in speakers

The USB-A ports are for low-speed devices like keyboard and mouse; they are not suited to external SSDs.

KVM and multi-viewBuilt-in KVM; PiP (picture-in-picture) and PbP (picture-by-picture)

KVM shares the keyboard and mouse attached to the monitor between two computers; switching is done via the USB option in the OSD. PbP splits the screen between two sources, PiP shows one in a small window.

Surface and viewing angleAnti-reflection surface treatment; 178° / 178°
Stand and mountingTilt −5° / 20°, swivel −30° / 30°, height 0–100 mm; VESA 100 × 100

Warranty3 years, including panel burn-in

On OLED, images left static for long periods can leave permanent marks; MSI covers this risk under warranty. Terms can vary by country.

From the manufacturer

MSI presents the MPG 341CQPX as a gaming monitor with a 240 Hz QD-OLED panel, OLED Care protection features and a burn-in warranty. MSI

Strengths and limitations

  • Display Ninja measured up to 260 nits in SDR and a minimum of 31 nits (12 nits in the Customization preset). In HDR the default True Black 400 mode reached 461 nits and Peak 1000 about 952 nits at 3% APL or smaller, with ABL active. The panel keeps the triangular subpixel layout: small text shows mild green-magenta fringing, which was not bothersome in daily use. The glossy surface gives mirror-like reflections. There is no fan; cooling uses a heatsink. Some OLED-care detection features cannot run with VRR on. Early firmware (FW.008) had high latency, so FW.018 or newer is recommended; an OSD bug marked the wrong preset.

Owner experiences and issues

  • On Best Buy 39 of 49 reviews are five-star and 2 one-star; most of the roughly 20 visible reviews are verified and incentivised, after one week to ten months of use. Owners praise the colours, black levels, 240 Hz smoothness and the KVM; SWhite and Brett say the OLED-care features leave them unworried about burn-in. VESPA5 and CadenH report VRR flicker when frame rate drops, and sarath reports text fringing bad enough to hinder office work and a seller refusing the return. Travvy found the firmware update hard to locate, Jaime says an update fixed input lag, and JakWisp had trouble over HDMI but not over USB-C/Thunderbolt. In Australia a single verified buyer (Ryan D.) praises KVM switching between desktop and laptop and the gentle curve.
