Sony says AI Camera Assistant aims to simplify photography by suggesting colour, lens and background-blur settings for a scene. Sony
Dominic Preston likes the daylight and low-light camera results but observes stuttering in the camera and app switching, along with heat.
The Verge — Dominic Preston: Xperia 1 VIII reviewNotebookcheck’s 12 GB / 256 GB test unit lasted 22 hours 44 minutes in the Wi-Fi web-browsing test; full-screen brightness measured about 1410 cd/m² and HDR peak 2215 cd/m². The screen flickers with PWM at 240 Hz, which the review says sensitive users may notice. Under stress testing about 40–50% of performance was lost and the bottom reached 49.4 °C. The review likes the stereo speakers, 3.5 mm output and strong ultra-wide camera, and counts the weak telephoto, slow 30 W wired charging and 1080p screen against it.
