Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra (47 mm, 2024)

The Galaxy Watch Ultra is Samsung’s rugged 2024 Wear OS watch. It has a titanium case, a 1.5-inch Super AMOLED display under sapphire crystal, the 3 nm Exynos W1000, a 590 mAh battery, dual-frequency GPS and 10ATM water resistance; an orange Quick Button starts workouts and triggers an emergency siren. Testing praised the build and features and criticised the size and a battery that does not last a weekend. Owners report battery life anywhere from one to three days.

Strengths and limitations

  • In a week of testing TechRadar found the build quality excellent, the watch comfortable on the wrist and ergonomic to use. The Quick Button and Multi-sports tile worked smoothly; body composition readings were close to a smart scale, and the watch survived waves, salt water and tumbles while surfing. Criticisms: the case is very big and thick, the orange strap stands out, the price is high, and the battery lasts a couple of days with moderate use but not a weekend outdoors. The design was found very similar to the Apple Watch Ultra.

Owner experiences and issues

  • Most reviews in the Best Buy Canada pool are positive, praising the build, bright display and health tracking. Battery is where opinions split: many owners report two to three days, while others have to charge daily, one gets at most 12 hours with features on and another 10 hours from a full charge. Owners also mention a charger that is fussy about placement and a thick, heavy case. One owner says sleep recording had gaps through the night and sent the watch for repair, another could not get heart rate or blood oxygen readings through an arm tattoo, and another had the band break within a year. An owner who used both the 2024 and 2025 versions says they work the same, with the 2025 battery lasting slightly longer.
