Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 10 (16IAX10, 83KY000TCF)

The Legion 7i Gen 10 is Lenovo’s thin, all-aluminium 16-inch gaming laptop. This configuration pairs the RTX 5060 Laptop GPU at 115 W TGP with a 165 Hz OLED panel. Two memory slots and two M.2 slots are accessible. Owners praise the display and build quality; heat while gaming, fan noise and short battery life are the most frequent criticisms.

83KY000TCF: Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX, GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU 8 GB (115 W), 2 × 16 GB DDR5-5600, 1 TB SSD, 16-inch 2560 × 1600 OLED 165 Hz, Glacier White, French/English keyboard. Configurations of the same chassis with the RTX 5070 Laptop GPU (8 GB or 12 GB), Core Ultra 9 275HX/290HX Plus or a 240 Hz panel are separate models.

Specifications

SpecificationValue
ProcessorIntel Core Ultra 7 255HX; 20 cores (8 performance + 12 efficiency), 20 threads, up to 5.2 GHz, 30 MB Intel Smart Cache

This configuration also includes the Intel AI Boost NPU rated at up to 13 TOPS; the NPU is designed to run AI tasks at lower power than the graphics card.

GraphicsNVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, 8 GB GDDR7; 2497 MHz boost, 115 W TGP, 572 AI TOPS

TGP is the power limit the graphics chip can use in this laptop; the same GPU runs slower in lower-powered chassis. The graphics chip is soldered and cannot be replaced. Lenovo also offers the RTX 5070 Laptop GPU in this chassis at 115 W.

Display16-inch WQXGA (2560 × 1600) OLED, 16:10; 165 Hz, 500 nits typical / 1100 nits HDR peak, 100% DCI-P3, 1,000,000:1 contrast, glossy surface, DisplayHDR True Black 1000, Dolby Vision, G-SYNC

165 Hz means the panel can show up to 165 frames per second; G-SYNC matches the refresh to the GPU’s frame rate to reduce tearing. 1100 nits is a peak value for small areas in HDR content; everyday SDR brightness is 500 nits. The panel is factory-calibrated with X-Rite and is not a touchscreen.

Memory32 GB (2 × 16 GB) DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM; 2 slots, dual-channel

Memory is not soldered. The highest capacity Lenovo has tested for this platform is 32 GB; both slots are filled from the factory, so an upgrade means replacing the modules.

Storage1 TB M.2 2242 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSD; 2 × M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots

The slots are 2280-length, so a second SSD can be added. PCIe 4.0 x4 offers a theoretical 8 GB/s of bandwidth; actual speed depends on the installed SSD.

Ports1 × Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 40 Gbps USB-C (USB PD 95–100 W, DisplayPort 2.1), 1 × USB-C 10 Gbps (USB PD 95–100 W, DisplayPort 2.1), 2 × USB-A 5 Gbps (one always on), 1 × HDMI 2.1 (up to 8K 60 Hz), SD card reader, 3.5 mm headset jack, slim-tip power input

Up to 3 external displays are supported alongside the built-in panel: HDMI up to 8K 60 Hz, USB-C up to 4K 60 Hz. Both USB-C ports accept 95–100 W USB-PD charging; Lenovo’s 140 W USB-C protocol works only with its own adapter. There is no wired Ethernet.

WirelessWi-Fi 7 (802.11be) 2 × 2, Bluetooth 5.4; M.2 card

The wireless card sits in an M.2 slot and is not soldered.

Battery and power84 Wh lithium-ion; 245 W slim-tip adapter (3-pin), Rapid Charge Pro

Lenovo rates battery life at 3.98 hours in MobileMark 30 and 7.18 hours in local 1080p video playback. Rapid Charge Pro charges to about 50% in 30 minutes.

Keyboard and touchpadPer-key RGB backlit 6-row keyboard, numeric keypad, 1.6 mm key travel, Copilot key; 75 × 120 mm buttonless glass-surface touchpad

This model has a bilingual French/English keyboard layout.

Audio, camera and security2 × 2 W HARMAN speakers, Nahimic Audio; 5 MP + IR camera with e-shutter; Windows Hello face recognition; firmware TPM 2.0

There is no fingerprint reader; the IR camera is used for sign-in.

ChassisGlacier White; aluminium lid and bottom cover, anodised + electrophoretic coating
Operating systemWindows 11 Home (French/English)
Size and weight361.7 × 263.4 × 15.9–17.9 mm; under 2.0 kg

The weight does not include the 245 W adapter.

Strengths and limitations

  • UltrabookReview tested a retail unit of the same chassis with the RTX 5070 and Core Ultra 9 275HX, supplied by Lenovo. In Performance mode the CPU held about 95 W at 85–88 °C with fan noise around 48 dBA; in Quiet mode the fans stayed below 35 dBA. In games the GPU drew about 105 W in Performance mode rather than the advertised 115 W. At 120 nits, battery life measured 4–6 hours for writing and video. The OLED panel uses PWM at all brightness levels, though at a high frequency, and the glossy surface reflects in bright rooms. The speakers lack bass and the metal edges feel sharp on the wrists. Memory, both SSD slots and the Wi-Fi card can be replaced through the bottom cover, held by screws of a single size.

Owner experiences and issues

  • Owners most often praise the OLED display, the solid aluminium chassis and the white finish hiding fingerprints. Noticeable heat while gaming and fan noise under load are shared observations from several people; two recommend a cooling pad. Those who call battery life short give figures between 1 and 5 hours. Other criticisms include 8 GB of graphics memory falling short in modded games, the touchpad sitting off to the left, the power input at the back, the missing fingerprint reader, quiet speakers and a heavy adapter. One owner wrote that a Thunderbolt driver crashed during setup and Lenovo support could not fix it; another said the unit stopped working. One user’s complaints about the Microsoft account, cloud saving and subscriptions concern the Windows setup experience, not a hardware fault. These reports do not indicate a failure rate.
