A compact Windows workstation sharing 128 GB of memory between its CPU and integrated graphics. It provides room for large datasets, 3D work and local AI, but fitting a model in memory does not guarantee that it will run quickly. RAM cannot be upgraded later with plug-in modules.

HP positions the Z2 Mini G1a for local language models, 3D design and running several professional applications together. It emphasizes the large memory allocation available to the GPU and the internal PSU. This does not mean it is faster than a discrete-GPU desktop in every application. HP
StorageReview runs large language models locally on its 395/128 GB sample. Generation speed varies greatly with the model and quantization; fitting in memory alone does not mean fast responses.
StorageReview: Z2 Mini G1a local language model testsWindows Central likes the numerous ports and compact body, but finds the fans loud under sustained load and the removable panel somewhat loose.
Windows Central: HP Z2 Mini G1a reviewIn HotHardware's CPU-only load (Cinebench) the cores immediately hit the 100 C limit and clocks dropped to the 4.2 to 4.3 GHz range; gaming did not reach the same temperatures and no GPU clock throttling was seen. The highest power draw measured at the wall was 256 W under a power virus load.
HotHardware: HP Z2 Mini G1a reviewHotHardware finds the system completely silent at idle but fairly loud under load. Excess preinstalled software, a headphone jack that drops out when audio stops and no mini DisplayPort cable in the box are listed as negatives.
HotHardware: HP Z2 Mini G1a reviewAt HP's store, D Shah likes the compact body and reports a good first month. j_ai reports heat and crashes after hours of heavy CPU load. The cause is not measured or verified, and this does not establish a fault across all G1a units.
HP Store: Z2 Mini G1a owner reviewsIn HP's support community, BuyRomeSteel and RonnyIBI report audible fans even at low load. Z2ZIP's clicking, attributed by that owner to the PSU fan, is a separate symptom. The owners' proposed causes are not manufacturer diagnoses.
