Technology glossary

Windows on Arm

Windows built for Arm processors. App compatibility depends on its code and the drivers it uses.

Arm64 apps run natively; Windows 11 can run many x86 and x64 apps through emulation. Prism handles this on Windows 11 24H2 and later.

Emulation does not solve driver compatibility. Printers, security software and game anti-cheat components may need Arm64 drivers. Support for a particular app or peripheral should be checked separately.
