Technology glossary

Apple M5 chip

A system-on-a-chip Apple builds with third-generation 3-nanometre technology. It is used in the iPad Pro, the 14-inch MacBook Pro and Apple Vision Pro.

According to Apple, each core of the M5’s 10-core GPU has a Neural Accelerator. The CPU has up to four performance and six efficiency cores; a 16-core Neural Engine and 153 GB/s of unified memory bandwidth are part of the chip.

Core counts can differ between products. The same chip name does not guarantee the same CPU configuration; the 11-inch iPad Pro uses a 9-core or 10-core CPU depending on the storage option.
