Apple A17 Pro

Apple’s chip introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro in 2023, built on TSMC’s 3 nm process; it also went into the iPad mini in 2024.

The A17 Pro was announced in September 2023 on a 3 nm process with 19 billion transistors. According to PhoneArena, Apple cited hardware-accelerated ray tracing, a Neural Engine twice as fast at up to 35 trillion operations per second, and an AV1 video decoder.

In the iPad mini (A17 Pro) it has a 6-core CPU (2 performance + 4 efficiency), a 5-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine. Because a chip with the same name can run with a different GPU core count and cooling in different devices, performance should be compared device by device.

Apple iPad mini (A17 Pro)

Apple's small 8.3-inch tablet. It weighs 293 g and brings the A17 Pro chip, Apple Pencil Pro support, 10 Gbit/s USB-C and Wi-Fi 6E. The display remains an LCD. Reviews praise its portability and performance; the screen lag in vertical scrolling is reduced but not gone for everyone, and repairability is low.
