DisplayAlways-On Retina LTPO OLED; up to 2000 nits, as low as 1 nit; 326 ppi

LTPO is a panel technology that can lower the refresh rate dramatically, letting the display stay dimly on when the wrist is down. The 1-nit minimum avoids glare in a dark room.

Apple
Always-On Retina LTPO2 OLED; 410 × 502 pixels, 326 ppi; 1,185 mm² display area

Brightness goes up to 3,000 nits and down to 1 nit in the dark. LTPO2 lowers the refresh rate to reduce battery use in always-on mode.

Apple
ChipS9 SiP; 64-bit dual-core processor, 4-core Neural Engine Apple—
Storage64 GB Apple—
ControlsDigital Crown with haptic feedback, side button, double tap gesture

Double tap lets you answer notifications or calls by tapping the thumb and index finger of the watch hand together twice, without touching the screen.

Apple
—
Health sensorsElectrical heart sensor, third-generation optical heart sensor, temperature sensing

The electrical sensor is for ECG recordings; the optical sensor measures pulse with light. Temperature sensing tracks overnight changes in wrist temperature.

Apple
—
Blood Oxygen (US)On watches sold in the US without the feature, a redesigned version arrives with iOS 18.6.1 and watchOS 11.6.1; the reading is calculated on iPhone

The watch collects sensor data, the paired iPhone calculates the value and shows it in the Health app. Watches bought outside the US are not affected.

Apple
—
Other sensorsCompass, always-on altimeter, high-g accelerometer, high dynamic range gyroscope, ambient light sensor Apple—
LocationL1 GPS, GNSS, Galileo and BeiDou

It is a single-frequency (L1) receiver; drift in cities can be more likely than with dual-frequency watches.

Apple
L1 + L5 dual-frequency GPS; GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, BeiDou

The L5 band helps reduce position errors where signals bounce, such as among tall buildings and dense trees.

Apple
WirelessWi-Fi 4 (802.11n), Bluetooth 5.3, second-generation Ultra Wideband

Ultra Wideband lets you locate an iPhone 15-family phone with Precision Finding showing direction and distance; availability varies by region.

Apple

Battery and chargingUp to 18 hours normal use, up to 36 hours in Low Power Mode; fast charge to about 80% in 45 minutes

Fast charging requires Apple’s fast-charging cable and a suitable adapter.

Apple
Up to 36 hours in normal use and 72 hours in Low Power Mode; fast charge to 80% in about 1 hour; built-in lithium-ion

The box includes a 1 m magnetic fast charger to USB-C cable; no adapter.

Apple
Durability50 m water resistant (ISO 22810:2010); IP6X dust resistant; Ion-X front glass

Suitable for swimming. Ion-X is the strengthened glass used on aluminium cases; steel cases use sapphire crystal.

Weight is 61.4 g in natural and 61.8 g in black. Fits 130–210 mm wrists.

Apple
Glass—Flat sapphire crystal front Apple
Chip and storage—S9 SiP (64-bit dual-core processor, 4-core Neural Engine); 64 GB

The S9 SiP can process Siri requests on the device and supports the double tap gesture (tapping thumb and index finger together twice).

Apple
Sensors—Electrical heart sensor; third-generation optical heart sensor; temperature sensor; depth gauge; water temperature sensor; compass; always-on altimeter

The electrical sensor runs the ECG app (age 22 and over). The temperature sensor is not for medical use; it supports retrospective ovulation estimates in cycle tracking.

Apple
Diving and durability—100 m water resistance under ISO 22810:2010 (WR100); recreational scuba diving to 40 m under EN13319; IP6X under IEC 60529; MIL-STD 810H testing

The depth gauge is accurate to ±1 m; Apple advises against diving below 40 m. The MIL-STD 810H tests cover altitude, temperature shock, freeze/thaw, shock and vibration.

Apple
Cellular and wireless—4G LTE and UMTS; Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n); Bluetooth 5.3; second-generation Ultra Wideband chip

Cellular use needs a carrier plan. Ultra Wideband enables precision finding of an iPhone; availability depends on the country.

Apple
Controls and safety—Customisable Action button; Digital Crown with haptic feedback; siren; Emergency SOS, fall and crash detection

The Action button is also used for Precision Start, beginning a workout recording at the exact start. The siren sounds a loud alert to call for help.
