This tool converts videos to more than 15 formats: a phone’s MOV to an MP4 that plays everywhere, an old AVI to WEBM, an MKV to MP4... From the same screen you can also pull the audio out as MP3, M4A or WAV.

Conversion runs on your computer or phone. Your video is never uploaded. The trade-off is that the processing power comes from your device, so long, high-resolution videos convert more slowly than in desktop software.

Leaving quality on "Medium" is the best balance for most videos. To shrink the file, lower the resolution to 720p; to keep only part of it, enter a start and end time.

Which format should I choose?

MP4 is the safest choice for sharing and playing on any device. WEBM suits embedding on websites, MOV suits editing software.

How big a video can I convert?

Your device’s memory is the limit. Computers usually handle videos up to 1–2 GB; on phones it’s better to stay within a few hundred MB.

Why did the first conversion start slowly?

The video components download once on first use. After that, conversions start straight from the browser cache.
