PNG to ICO and Favicon

Turn your logo into a favicon.ico that holds every size in one file.

The small icon your website shows in browser tabs (the favicon) and Windows app icons use the ICO format. A good ICO file isn’t a single image; it holds the same icon at sizes such as 16, 32, 48 and 256 pixels, and the system picks whichever it needs.

This tool turns a PNG, JPG, WEBP or SVG into one ICO file containing all of those sizes. For the best result, use a square source of at least 256×256 pixels.

How to use

  1. Select your logo or icon (ideally a square PNG or SVG).
  2. Press "Convert".
  3. Download favicon.ico and put it in your site’s root folder.

Frequently asked questions

Which sizes does the ICO contain?

16, 24, 32, 48, 64, 128 and 256 pixels if the source is large enough. With a small source, only the sizes up to it are included.

What happens to a non-square image?

It is fitted into a square frame. To avoid empty margins, prepare a square source.

Do modern sites still need ICO?

Browsers also accept PNG favicons, but older browsers and tools still look for /favicon.ico. Providing both is the safest choice.
