This tool converts MP4 files to AC3. MP4 is the most widely used video format. It usually holds H.264 video and AAC audio and plays on phones, browsers, TVs and social networks.

Dolby Digital audio. Only the audio of the MP4 video is kept and saved as AC3; the picture is dropped. AC3 is lossy; you choose the quality from 96 to 320 kbps. 192–256 kbps is enough for music, 128 kbps for speech.

Frequently asked questions

Will audio quality drop when converting to AC3?

AC3 is lossy, so there is a small loss you won’t hear at higher bitrates. If the source is already lossy, a higher bitrate won’t improve it.
