JPG to PNG

Convert JPG to lossless PNG; ideal before editing or printing.

If you will keep editing a JPG, or a program only accepts PNG, this tool does the job. PNG is lossless, so quality won’t drop again with later saves.

One thing worth knowing: converting a JPG to PNG doesn’t bring back lost detail and doesn’t make the image transparent. The file usually gets bigger too. The point of the conversion is to keep the quality from here on.

How to use

  1. Select your JPG files.
  2. Optionally set a maximum size.
  3. Convert and download the PNGs.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the PNG bigger than the JPG?

PNG compresses without loss, while JPG throws away detail the eye doesn’t notice. For photos, PNG is always bigger.

Can I make the background transparent?

This tool doesn’t remove backgrounds. A JPG has no transparency information, so the PNG won’t be transparent either.

Do phone photos end up sideways?

No. The orientation recorded by your phone is applied during conversion.
