This tool converts HEIC files to JPEG 2000. HEIC (HEIF) is the photo format of iPhones and some Android phones. It is about half the size of JPG, but Windows and many websites can’t open it directly.

JPEG 2000 is used in archives, digital cinema and medical imaging. JPEG 2000 is lossy, and you choose the quality with the slider. For photos, 80–90% makes the file much smaller with a loss you won’t notice. JPEG 2000 has no transparency, so transparent areas in your HEIC are filled with white or a colour you pick.
