Compress Video

Make a video file smaller for email, WhatsApp and form uploads.

Phone videos are often hundreds of MB and won’t fit in an email, a messaging app or a form. This tool re-encodes the video with H.264 to make it smaller.

The defaults (720p, low quality) shrink most phone videos 5–10 times and still look good on a phone screen. For a better picture set quality to "Medium"; for a smaller file drop to 480p. Audio is kept at a sensible bitrate.

How to use

  1. Choose the video.
  2. Pick the resolution and quality; optionally trim the video.
  3. Compress; the tool shows the new size and how much you saved.

Frequently asked questions

How much smaller will it get?

It depends on the source. 4K phone videos often get 10× smaller at 720p; already compressed videos gain less.

Why does compressing take time?

The video is re-encoded on your device’s processor. A one-minute 1080p video usually takes a minute or two on a computer.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Compression happens entirely in your browser.
