Technology glossary

GeForce RTX 5080 (desktop)

A desktop graphics processor based on NVIDIA Blackwell, with 10752 CUDA cores, 16 GB of GDDR7 memory and a 256-bit memory interface.

NVIDIA specifies 360 W total graphics power for its reference design. Card makers may use different cooling, power settings and connectors; a prebuilt computer’s own documentation takes precedence.

The RTX 5080 Laptop GPU is a different processor. Desktop and laptop versions cannot be treated as equivalent based on their names or memory capacity alone.

ASUS ROG G1000 (2026)

The ROG G1000 is a large 104-liter tower. This Canadian-code configuration has a Ryzen 9 9950X3D, a ROG GeForce RTX 5080 with 16 GB GDDR7, 2 × 32 GB DDR5 and a 2 TB SSD. The CPU’s 420 mm liquid cooler sits in its own compartment, and the GPU and power supply have their own airflow zones. Standard parts make it upgradable. The 40 kg weight and the holographic side fan are worth planning around.

HP OMEN 35L (GT16-1002na)

The OMEN 35L is HP's prebuilt gaming desktop. This configuration has a Ryzen 9 9900X3D, a desktop RTX 5080, 64 GB of DDR5, a 2 TB SSD, a 240 mm liquid cooler and a 1000 W 80 Plus Gold power supply. Standard parts such as the microATX board and ATX power supply ease upgrades; there is no USB4/Thunderbolt, and reaching the second SSD slot can mean removing the graphics card.
