Micro RGB

Micro RGB is Samsung's name for a television backlight with small red, green and blue LEDs behind the screen, so colour comes directly from those light sources.

According to Samsung, Micro RGB uses a micro-sized RGB colour backlight and local dimming that controls colour and brightness together. A processor called Micro RGB AI Engine Pro manages the red, green and blue light separately with AI.

Samsung says the design is certified by VDE for "Micro RGB Precision Color" against the ITU UHD (4K) BT.2020 colour standard and reaches 100% of the BT.2020 colour space; this is a manufacturer claim. The same basic idea, separate red, green and blue light sources, appears under a different name in Hisense's RGB MiniLED description. The panel is still a backlit LCD; independent tests report it does not match the pixel-level dimming of OLED and that blooming can show around bright objects.

Samsung R95H 65-inch

The R95H is a Samsung Micro RGB television whose backlight uses red, green and blue LEDs. The 65-inch model is 4K with a matte Glare Free surface and 4K 165 Hz on all four HDMI inputs; there is no Dolby Vision. Independent tests highlight its wide colour coverage and high brightness, while black levels sit slightly behind OLED and blooming can show in very dark scenes.
