Google Tensor A1

Google’s audio and noise-cancellation processing chip, found in each Pixel Buds Pro 2 earbud.

Google says Tensor A1 debuted in Pixel Buds Pro 2. It adapts audio to the surroundings up to 3 million times per second and runs active noise cancellation twice as strong as the original Pixel Buds Pro.

The chip handles music and noise cancellation on separate processing paths, which Google describes as a dedicated lane for music. Google also credits it with longer battery life despite the smaller earbud design.

Google Pixel Buds Pro 2

Pixel Buds Pro 2 are Google’s noise-cancelling in-ear earbuds built around its own Tensor A1 chip. They offer an 11 mm dynamic driver, ANC with Silent Seal 2.0, in-ear pressure relief, Bluetooth 5.4 and multipoint, with 8 hours of battery with ANC on and 30 hours with the case. The earbuds are IP54, the case IPX4 with Qi wireless charging. In independent testing ANC-on battery life came very close to Google’s figure; owners praise the fit and sound, noting that fit varies by ear and touch controls can be inconsistent.
