Strengths and limitations

  • In TechRadar’s testing the rounded body and 20:9 ratio made the Pixel 8 comfortable in the hand and easy to pocket; the under-display fingerprint sensor was consistent but could be a little faster. The 50 MP main camera and the autofocusing ultrawide were found versatile despite no telephoto, with AI tools such as Best Take and Audio Magic Eraser standing out. Battery life lasted all day. Minimal camera changes over the Pixel 7 and the lack of the Pro model’s temperature sensor counted against it.

Owner experiences and issues

  • Buyers mostly praise easy setup and data transfer from an old phone, software features such as call screening and performance for the price; one found the phone slippery and recommended a grippy case. Most negative reviews relate to refurbishment condition: scratched or marked screens, a dirty or loose charging port, sticky volume buttons and no charger in the box. A few users reported green or pink lines and flicker on the screen within a short time; these reviews come from refurbished units and do not indicate a failure rate.
