BMP is Windows’ uncompressed bitmap format. It stores every pixel as is, so files are very large, but almost every program opens it. BMP is lossless, so nothing is lost from the image during conversion. BMP has no transparency, so transparent areas in your SVG are filled with white or a colour you pick. You set the width; being vector, it stays sharp at large sizes.
