This tool converts an image to another image format. Your file might be a TIFF scan, a PSD document or a camera RAW photo; as the target you can pick JPG, PNG, WEBP, AVIF, TIFF, ICO, PSD and dozens of other formats.

You can also shrink the image while converting: give a maximum width and height and it is scaled down without distorting the proportions, while smaller images are left as they are. When a transparent image is converted to a format without transparency, such as JPG, the background becomes white, or any colour you choose.

Frequently asked questions

Which format should I choose?

For sharing photos or putting them on a website, WEBP or AVIF give the smallest files. Choose JPG if the file must open everywhere. PNG suits logos, screenshots and transparent images. TIFF is used for print and archiving.

Will the quality drop?

Nothing is lost when converting to lossless formats such as PNG, TIFF or BMP. JPG, WEBP and AVIF are lossy; at 85–90% quality the file gets much smaller with a loss you won’t notice.

What happens to the location and camera data in my photos?

EXIF data such as location, camera model and date is removed from the output. The orientation saved by your phone is applied to the image, so photos don’t end up sideways.
