This tool converts GIF files to BMP. GIF is an old format limited to 256 colours. It is still used for simple animations and graphics with few colours; photos lose colour quality.

BMP is Windows’ uncompressed bitmap format. It stores every pixel as is, so files are very large, but almost every program opens it. BMP is lossless, so nothing is lost from the image during conversion. BMP has no transparency, so transparent areas in your GIF are filled with white or a colour you pick.
