X-Trans CMOS 5 HS

Fujifilm’s 26.1 MP stacked APS-C sensor designed for speed.

According to Fujifilm the sensor combines its existing back-side illuminated (BSI) design with a stacked, layered structure, quadrupling readout speed compared with the previous generation.

Fast readout reduces the rolling-shutter effect that makes moving subjects look skewed with the electronic shutter and in video. Fujifilm quotes readout of up to 1/180 s in video.

The X-Trans name refers to Fujifilm’s colour filter layout, which is more irregular than the classic Bayer pattern. The 40 MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HR is a separate, resolution-focused sensor.
