RGB MiniLED

RGB MiniLED is a backlight approach in which each small LED behind an LCD panel uses separate red, green and blue diodes. Colour light is produced directly at the source.

According to Hisense, each LED in this backlight contains three independently operating diodes (red, green, blue), creating colour directly at the source. Hisense states this reaches up to 100% of BT.2020 colour coverage.

It differs from a conventional Mini LED backlight that pairs white or blue LEDs with a colour-filter or quantum-dot layer, and from OLED, which produces light at pixel level. The panel is still LCD; local dimming remains limited by the number of zones, and halos can appear around bright objects.
