Fractal Design Terra

The Terra is Fractal Design's 10.4-litre Mini-ITX case: anodised aluminium panels, a walnut front and a movable central spine that trades space between the graphics card and CPU cooler. It ships with a PCIe 4.0 riser cable and takes an SFX/SFX-L power supply and graphics cards up to 322 mm. Reviews praise the build quality and flexibility but find the noise profile of the slatted side panels and GPU temperatures with the doors closed weak.

Specifications

SpecificationValue
MotherboardMini-ITX only
Volume and size10.4 L (without feet); 343 × 153 × 218 mm (with feet)

Volume by external dimensions is 11.4 L.

Weight3.1 kg net
MaterialsAnodised aluminium panels, 8 mm aluminium front; FSC-certified solid walnut front panel
Movable spineAdjustable spine that shares space between the graphics card and CPU cooler

Moving the spine towards the graphics card fits a taller cooler, and towards the cooler fits a thicker card; both cannot be at their largest at once.

Graphics cardUp to 322 mm long; for cards under 131 mm tall, 72 mm thick in Max GPU mode or 43 mm in Max CPU mode

For cards 131–145 mm tall the thickness limit drops to 62/33 mm. Fractal’s FAQ gives different width figures, so check the manual before buying.

CPU cooler48 mm tall in Max GPU mode, 77 mm in Max CPU mode
Power supplySFX or SFX-L, up to 130 mm
Radiator and fans1 × 120 mm side radiator; 1 × 120 mm bottom fan mount; no fans included

The side radiator requires a graphics card no longer than 200 mm and no SSDs installed.

Front I/O1 × USB-C 20 Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 2x2), 1 × USB-A 5 Gbps, power button

The 20 Gbps speed needs a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 header on the motherboard. There is no front audio jack.

In the boxPCIe 4.0 riser cable, 2 × 2.5-inch SSD mounts

From the manufacturer

Fractal Design presents the Terra as a stylish SFF case with CNC-milled aluminium and solid walnut details, whose adjustable spine fits powerful hardware into a small volume. Fractal Design

Strengths and limitations

  • In GamersNexus's test with a Core i5-13600K and RTX 4070 FE, the GPU recirculated warm air with the doors closed; opening the doors cut the GPU core by about 8 °C and the hotspot by 10 °C. Moving the spine to position 1 cooled the GPU by about 4 °C with no effect on the CPU. The slatted side panels make an unpleasant noise, especially in front of the CPU fan; with the doors open total noise fell by about 5.6 dBA. The door latches rely on a small plastic tab; an SFX-L power supply blocks the bottom SSD and fan mount, and a stiff 12VHPWR cable makes long cards awkward.

GamersNexus review, August 2023 (updated November 2023); temperatures are deltas over ambient and comparable only within Terra tests.

Owner experiences and issues

  • On Newegg, a user (January 2026) praises the Jade Terra for its cooler clearance, ease of working inside and clean look without RGB; they note their power supply was too large to leave room for the second 2.5-inch mount.
